This Rye whiskey makes us a bit nervous. Not for any nefarious reasons, but because it is so deliciously unique and complex that it will be a tough task for us to top this Rye Whiskey. We really swung for the fences on this one, utilizing the oldest rye whiskey stocks we have ever assembled.
Four distinct varieties of rye grain are represented in this whiskey. Each distiller uses rye grown within the region surrounding their distillery, making each whiskey incredibly dependent on the climate and environment where it was created. Frey Ranch uses its own estate-grown winter cereal rye cultivated on the farm, while Oregon Spirits, Finger Lakes, and Breuckelen all use rye grown within a short distance of their distilleries. The result is an extremely terroir-driven blend.
This is a roller coaster of a whiskey, constantly moving up, down, and around the corner as it develops across the palate, with a long, drawn-out finish.
We pulled our oldest stocks of rye whiskey to create this blend, and as a result, yields were quite low from the barrels we harvested.
