Night falls over the French countryside as fog blankets the moors and a lone howl breaks the silence. The Loup-Garou, France's legendary werewolf, has stalked these forests for centuries. To capture the spirit of its homeland, we finished this straight bourbon whiskey with French oak from the Vosges Forest, where the legend still lingers among the trees.
A Cryptid is a creature of lore and superstition like Bigfoot or the Loch Ness Monster. We have recognized 4 of these mythical beasts with one from the U.S., one from Japan, one from France, and one from Brazil showcasing indigenous woods from each region. Each label illustrates the elusive cryptid showcasing artwork from Orlando’s own Fiorel Art. These are our lab experiments that turned out great so we thought it would be fun to release these to the public in small offerings as an example of how a single stave expression can influence a whiskey.
Holt & Capen Blend of 7 and 8 year high-rye Bourbon (40% Green River / 60% MGP – Both 21% Rye mashbills)
57.31% ABV or 114.62 proof cask strength
Cask Strength Whiskey finished in Cured French Oak Staves
French Oak is one of the most expensive oaks on the planet, mainly due to it only coming from 5 main forests in France. This is a different subspecies of oak that is not grown here in the US and is under strict French guidelines where harvesting is permitted. This whiskey needs a bit of time in a glass to allow air to slightly oxidize it, it also blossoms from a few drops of water. Rich and Robust, with a hint of coconut and creamy vanilla as well as a touch of petrol due to the heavy char on the staves. Deliciously unique.
Bottles Produced 100
